In March 2020 I got into an arranged marriage (court marriage) with a well-educated boy from a well settled family staying abroad, whom we met on a reputed matrimonial site. However, regrettably and most unexpectedly, to our utter dismay; mental and verbal abuse, eccentric behaviour, undue expectations and demands for dowry from the boy�¢ï¿½ï¿½s side; compelled us to put an end to this toxic alliance. Thanks to the pandemic situation, (ban on visa and air travel) I remained safe and sound in India as I never went to my in-laws place. In a nutshell, the court marriage which was done only for early initiation of visa formalities remained only on paper. Needless to say, the marriage was never consummated. Divorce was obtained in due course. Now with the support of my entire family, I am ready to move ahead in life with added strength and resilience.
